On August 17, 2026, I will begin a new role as a Senior Microsoft 365 Consultant with Sycomp A Technology Company, Inc. This opportunity represents an exciting next step in my professional journey and a return to the type of consulting work that originally drew me into technology services many years ago.
Before going further, I want to make one thing very clear. This transition is not the result of any issue with Network Coverage. I am grateful for the opportunities, experience, and professional relationships I developed there. The past near year at Network Coverage allowed me to deepen my technical expertise and contribute to many successful customer projects.
Looking Back at the Last Five Years
Much of my recent work has focused on engineering execution. Day after day, I have been involved in deploying Microsoft 365 solutions, performing migrations, implementing security controls, troubleshooting complex issues, and helping organizations modernize their environments.
Execution work is where strategy becomes reality. It is also where consultants gain invaluable hands-on experience. During this period, I expanded my expertise across Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, Defender, Azure, security, compliance, and identity management.
While I thoroughly enjoy implementation work, my career history has traditionally included much more than delivery alone.
Returning to Full Lifecycle Consulting
Earlier in my consulting career, I regularly participated in engagements from the very first customer conversation through final project completion. Those responsibilities included:
- Discovery workshops
- Business and technical assessments
- Solution architecture and design
- Pre-sales consulting
- Executive presentations
- Proposal development
- Project leadership
- Implementation execution
- Customer enablement and knowledge transfer
The Senior Microsoft 365 Consultant position brings me back to that full engagement lifecycle. The role includes leading Microsoft 365 transformation initiatives, developing security and compliance strategies, creating technical architectures, conducting assessments, providing strategic recommendations, mentoring consultants, supporting customer licensing initiatives, and presenting solutions to stakeholders.
That combination of business consulting and deep technical execution is exactly what makes this opportunity so appealing.
Why This Role Fits
Over more than three decades in information technology, I have served in many different capacities, including network engineering, systems administration, infrastructure architecture, consulting, technical leadership, and cloud-focused Microsoft roles.
The projects I have always enjoyed most are those where I can help organizations identify challenges, develop a roadmap, design solutions, and ultimately deliver successful outcomes. Being involved throughout the entire process allows consultants to create greater value and develop stronger partnerships with customers.
I enjoy discussing business objectives just as much as I enjoy solving technical problems. Questions about identity strategy, security architecture, compliance requirements, collaboration modernization, licensing optimization, and cloud transformation are often where meaningful business outcomes begin.
Continuing the Microsoft Journey
Another reason this role stood out is its emphasis on continuous learning and technical leadership. The responsibilities align closely with the skills I have spent years developing through customer engagements, lab work, technical writing, and Microsoft certification pursuits.
Microsoft technologies continue to evolve at a remarkable pace. Staying current requires ongoing investment in learning, testing, and hands-on experience. That commitment to growth has been a constant throughout my career and remains one of the aspects of technology that I enjoy most.

I leave Network Coverage with genuine appreciation for the opportunities I received and the talented people I worked alongside. Every chapter of a career contributes to the next one, and the engineering-focused experience I gained over the past five years has prepared me well for this new opportunity.
As I prepare to begin this next chapter, I am excited to return to a role that blends consulting, architecture, customer engagement, strategy, and implementation. It feels less like changing directions and more like returning to the type of work that initially inspired my consulting career.
